Day 4

Friday, June 24, 2011

So after the excitement of yesterday I had to realize that not everyday would be like that. But today was also kinda cool because I got to learn how to edit video! I actually edited the video that went on air !!!! (thanks to Lovejoy's class I actually had some experience with it so that helped a lot!)
I was there form 3-11pm :)

Here a clip from youtube of one of the videos Tim Becker spoke about.

Day 3

Thursday, June 24, 2011

AHHHHHHH so today was officially the coolest day EVER! Today was the draft...the NBA draft for those of you who don't keep up with sports...smh (shakin my head). BUT, first off just watching the draft here was SO fun because hello I'm with all the sports guys. What I didn't know was that I would be going to the PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS PRESS CONFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS AMAZING! I got to go drive over there with one of the camera men who was also really informative and helpful to talk to. We got there and I was the only girl, which kinda made me mad...not gonna lie. There needs to be way more women reporters out there! Regardless, it was very VERY cool to sit in on. I had more than a great time. The camera man said I could ask a question if I wanted but I figured I better keep my mouth shut. Here is a picture from it:

Oh ya and I was there from 3-11pm

Day 2

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Today I interned at KOIN from 3-11pm and definitely felt more comfortable coming in. Dan Christopherson is spending the week in Disneyland with his family so I will be working with Tim Becker ! He is also way fun to work with. We spent the night talking about things such as what words you shouldn't use to editing video from TMZ on Greg Odon being mistaken for Lebron James. haha funessssss

Tuesday

Week 1 Reflection

Saturday, June 18, 2011

Sooooo unfortunately the week started off really well for me but ended up being a drag. I had my first and last day of my internship on Tuesday this week. Turns out my allergies decided to amp it up and I had to go to the doctors about 100 times. I woke up one morning with my face puffed up like a balloon, another day just half my face, and just more ridiculous things. The doctors ended up having to do an allergy test on me...little did I know it would be one of the worst experiences EVER. They prick you with everything and wait to see how you react...and what do you know..I'm allergic to just about everything!!! My arm was beat red and on fire. It was terrible. The doctors were like "oh wow!" Soooo now I have to get allergy shots and all this ridiculous stuff. Just for entertaining purposes I thought I'd let you know all of that. BUT, putting all that aside, Tuesday was very exciting for me. I work with Dan Christopherson who is the sports broadcaster at the local news station Channel 6. He previously attended The University of Portland and worked for the Beacon so we have our little connection there. We complained together about how there is not enough going on with broadcasting and that UP needs to step their game up. One of the things that made me pretty upset was when I found out that the sports broadcasting only get 90 seconds at the 5 o'clock show and 2 1/2 minutes at the 11 o'clock show... and weekends 3 1/2 minutes for each show...that is some b.s if you ask me! I was mad and me being me I said something to one of the ladies who is in charge of all that good stuff..haha I told her how they should be given more time on the air and blah blah blah. I think Dan appreciated it. I decided that by the time I'm outta here I want to have it changed! (or at least try haha). Anyways, it was a good day and hopefully it will continue to be fun over the next couple of weeks :]

Adios for now !

My First Day!!

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Today was my first day at KOIN and I was pretty nervous I'm not gonna lie. I was there from 3-11pm and I ended up having a blast. Since it was my first day it was pretty vague but I got to meet a lot of new people and was shown the basics of researching a story and even writing it. Pretty cool stuff :)
